Views in China: the cliff and temple at Hukau, 1864. Engraving from a sketch by Mr. F. L. Bedwell, of '...the Cliff and Temple at Hukau, which place, at the entrance of the Poyang Lake, has a very singular aspect. The River Yang-Tze-Kiang washes the foot of this cliff. The overhanging rock rises to a height of about 200 ft., and on the summit is perched a temple, occupied by a few priests. The water-marks on the side of the rock show most clearly the great height to which the river rises in the summer, whin swollen by the mountain torrents'. From "Illustrated London News", 1864.
