The last resting-place of the late Earl Canning in the North Transept of Westminster Abbey, 1862. 'The mortal remains of the ex-Viceroy of India were on the 21st June committed to the grave at the foot of his father's statue...the same grave at the head of which Charles John Canning, the orphan Eton boy, stood thirty-five years ago, supported by the Dukes of Clarence and Sussex, and surrounded by distinguished statesmen, amongst whom was Lord Palmerston, who has been spared to take part in the touching and solemn ceremonial of Saturday week'.
