Meeting of the British Association at Birmingham: the Wytch, near Malvern, 1865. View of '...that remarkable pass, called "The Wytch"...[ie The Wyche Cutting, a pass through the Malvern Hills that was once part of an Iron Age salt route]...The walk to the famous hills, which afford extensive and beautiful views into Wales and the adjoining English counties, was much enjoyed. Here has been found much treasure, including a coronet of gold, set with diamonds, supposed to have been the diadem of a British Prince, who had, perhaps, fallen in a battle near here; as, from the description, it corresponded with the ancient coronets worn by the princes or chiefs of Wales'.
