Légende
Children of the Sea, by L. Duncan, in the General Exhibition of Water-Colour Drawings, 1869. Engraving of a painting. 'The subject of this water-colour drawing, with its suggestive title, is too simple to require comment. But, as so often is the case in art, the simplicity is one of the chief recommendations. The treatment of the incident is exactly what it should be - simple also: unforced and unaffected. Technically - that is, as regards drawing, colouring, and modelling - it is a very promising work by this young artist, and testifies to his having profited by the advantage of studying under a father who is one of our most estimable living masters of water-colour art. We allude, of course, to Mr. Duncan, of the Old Water-Colour Society'. From "Illustrated London News", 1869.
