Exhibition of poultry at the Jardin d'Acclimatation, Paris, 1868. '...the large central compartment is occupied by the wild turkeys of M. Bruzeau, which gained the first prize in their class. Of the two subjects beneath the centre, that on the left hand is a pair of fowls of the La Flèche breed, sent by M. Izard; the pair on the right are Campine, belonging to M. Bocquet; each of these pairs won a first prize. The five subjects represented, one below another, in the several compartments on the left-hand side of the page...from top to bottom, are named as follows: Hirondelles, or swallow pigeons (outside the rustic border of the engraving); pouting pigeons; Houdan fowls, exhibited by M. Perré, for which he obtained a prix d'honneur; Golden Polish, by M. Felix Durand, who gained the same distinction; and Bruge, the pair which won the first prize, belonging also to M. Felix Durand. On the right, the birds there represented in the different compartments, beginning at the top, are the tumbler pigeons of M. Bocquet, which got a prix d'honneur; his runts, or pigeons Romains, which took the first prize; the Crèvecoeur pair of M. Simier, prix d'honneur; the Brahmapootras of M. Bocquet, and his Spanish fowls, both of which gained him first prizes'. From "Illustrated London News", 1868.
