The Elections in France: electors receiving their voting-cards at the Mairie of Montmartre, [in Paris], 1869. '...the elections passed off without the slightest disorder, and with only a moderate amount of excitement...For several days before an election takes place voters can procure their voting-cards (without possessing themselves of which they are not allowed to vote) by personal application at the Mairies [ie town halls] of the districts in which they reside...Armed with his green voting-ticket, the elector presents himself at the polling-place'.
