Légende
The Regatta at Henley-on-Thames, [Oxfordshire], 1869. 'The two days' aquatic amusements at the Henley Royal Regatta, on Wednesday and Thursday last week, seem to have been rather dull. The weather on the first day, though it brightened in the afternoon before the racing begun, had threatened so much in the morning as to diminish the attendance of spectators. There were many in carriages upon the bridge, but the stand was not fully occupied, nor was the river-side path as crowded as on former occasions. No steam-boats were this year allowed on the river, except the one which conveyed Mr. Morrison, the umpire, and members of the committee; there was a variety of smaller boats. The races which excited most interest were those for the Grand Challenge Cup, won by the Oxford Etonians against the Eton College eight, on the first day; and on the second day, against the London Rowing Club; and that for the Stewards' Challenge Cup, won again by its former holders, the London Rowing Club, against the Oxford men educated at Radley'.
