The sacrificer and his aide bring the sacrificial bull, while the priest, a veil over his head, pours the libation over a tripod. The Roman town of Pompeii (modern-day Campania) was buried under volcanic ash and pumice during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
