The Second Angel and Babylon Destroyed, about 1255-1260. Additional Info:An angel shows the ruins of the great city of sin, Babylon, to the dismayed Saint John. To the right of the fallen buildings, a man drinks the "wine of wrath" from a chalice. Reinforcing the themes of the miniature, a man in the initial E below takes a hearty, healthy drink out of a gourd, while another sounds a horn from the towers of a thriving city. Quote Text:And another angel followed, saying: That great Babylon is fallen, is fallen who made all peoples drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.(Apocalypse 14:8).
