Additional Info: In the border, Hannah dedicates her son Samuel to the Lord, fulfilling a vow she made to God when she was barren. Medieval Christians saw this incident as a prefiguration of the Presentation of Christ, described in this text and pictured on the opposite page. The similar positions and clothing of the two priests emphasize the link between the Old Testament and New Testament events.
