In the Cloisters, Salisbury, 1872. 'The ecclesiastical and the civic portions of Salisbury are quite distinct from each other. They are separated by the wall of the Close, which contains the noble Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, the Deanery, and the residences of Canons and Prebendaries. The Cloisters, with their graceful arcades, supported by clustered pillars, their smooth green lawns and stately cedars are very beautiful'. From "Illustrated London News", 1872.
