The Twilight Hour, 1874. Portrait of Kate Keown dressed in a striped skirt and loose blouse with lace trim with a scarf draped over her head. She sits in partial profile with her hands clasped together on her knee, and a woven basket strapped to her back. Pioneering British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron is considered to be one of the most important portraitists of the 19th century. She took up photography at the age of 48, after her daughter gave her a camera as a present.
