Amphoriskos, 300-1 BC. Red and Yellow Flasks with Festoons. Additional Info: Core formed: a core of organic and inorganic materials shaped on the end of a rod to the dimensions of the interior. Dipped into a batch of molten dark blue glass, or had the glass trailed around the exterior, then marvered smooth. Bands of alternating opaque white and red glass were then trailed around the piece horizontally and combed upward on the body and neck sections to form a wave pattern. The core material was then removed and the handles (one in light blue/green and the other in dark blue) were attached, first at the shoulders, then pulled upwards, folded down and attached to the neck. At the base, a ball of opaque red glass was added in molten state and twisted into shape.
