'The Two Men Were Felled Simultaneously', 1932. 'The friar opened the door just sufficiently to permit his stalwart frame to slip through, and disappeared into the darkness of the cell. "Ohé there, you men", cried the friar from within, "where is the prisoner? I cannot see him". "That is very strange", said the guards, rushing in hastily and leaving the door open whilst they endeavoured to pierce the gloom with their dim lanthorns. The friar threw out his arms like a flail, and such was his strength that the two men were felled simultaneously and lay stunned on the floor of the cell'. From "Robin Hood and His Life in the Merry Greenwood", by Rose Yeatman Woolf, illustrated by Howard Davie. [Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd, London, 1932]
