The men were suddenly startled by their leader's cry, "The King! the King" God save the King!" and Robin fell to his knee pleading for mercy and pardon for himself and his company. "We are rough fellows", said he, "but our hearts are true to you and 'Merrie England'". "Get up, Robin", commanded the King...your petition is granted...'.
