Légende
Viva la Vida, 1954. Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) made work inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Her naïve folk art style explored questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race. Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements, and mixed realism with fantasy. She has been described as a surrealist or magical realist. This painting - "Long live life" - was her last, painted just eight days before her death aged 47). Found in the Collection of Banco de México Diego Rivera Frida Kahlo Museums Trust, Mexico.
