Blanche Sully, 1834. Portrait of the artist's daughter. British-born painter Thomas Sully (1783-1872) became a naturalized American citizen. He was commissioned to paint Queen Victoria, and his daughter Blanche assisted him as the Queen's 'stand-in', modelling the Queen's costume when she was not available.
