The Autumn Campaign on Cannock Chase, 1873. The British Army in Staffordshire. 'G. Guards Washermen, Oak Edge Park...[One of the] Illustrations obtained by our Artist in the head-quarters' camp at Etching Hill representing some ordinary incidents of camp life and soldierly habits in the field. Two of the tall fellows of the Grenadier Guards are seen at a watering-trough, diligent in the work of the washerwoman; but they will be content to get up their linen roughly clean without the use of mangle or flatiron to smooth the creases and plaits'.
