Légende
This black-figure painting on a wine jar, or amphora, is Attic and dates to the sixth century B.C. It is from Vulci and shows the inside of a bathing establishment. The bath is surrounded by a colonnade and supplied by water from spouts in the shape of animals' heads (boar, lion, and panther) placed high in the wall. The four women bathing stand in the floor of the bath half up to their knees in water, and take a cold shower from the spouts above. In the background between the pillars is a rail on which their clothes are hanging.
