Francois Quesnay (June 4, 1694 - December 16, 1774) was a French economist and physician. He studied medicine in Paris, and became physician to King Louis XV of France. From the late 1740s he began to devote more time to the study of economics, gathering around him a group of leading economic thinkers (the Physiocrates). He published the "Tableau économique" (Economic Table) in 1758, which provided the foundations of the ideas of the Physiocrats.
