Festa della Porchetta in Bologna, Collection of festival prints, Belmond, Giovanni Antonio, 1696-1775, Etching, engraving, ca. 1735, The print represents a temporary architecture constructed for the festa della Porchetta or feast of the Roast Pig in Bologna, within a frame adorned with the insignia of the Gonfaloniere and eight Anziani, the city elders and ruling families of Bologna. Beyond the square enclosed by galleries, wide steps lead to a triumphal arch supported by spiral columns. To the left of the arch, a tempietto stands near the ruins of a tower overgrown with vegetation. The piglet is seen in the background in a horse-drawn chariot. Dressed as a lady, it is accompanied by a servant holding an umbrella over its head. Festa della Porchetta dell'Anno / Anto. Belmonto Turinese Scolare del Cav. Giusep. Ma.
