A Matabele indaba with Captain Lawley. British colonial officer, Mr W. Thomas, addresses an audience of Matabele indunas (chiefs), who are seated on the floor of the Stock Exchange Hall. They were attending an indaba (council) headed by Captain Arthur Lawley, Administrator of Matabeleland and Mashonaland, and the Chief Native Commissioner to discuss arrangements for administering Matabeleland.
