Glass fragment, depicting the satyr Seilenos, A theatrical half mask. These tiny fragments, possibly theatrical tokens for important persons, were made from polychrome glass canes laid side by side to create a picture. The rods were fused, left to cool, stretched to miniaturise, then sliced. Egypt. Ancient Egyptian. Graeco Roman c 1st C BC. Alexandria.
