A fresco from the villa of Agrippa Postumus at Boscotrecase, Pompeii, The 3rd style, cubiculum 16, north wall. The scene takes place near a rural sanctuary as identified by a sacred tree and a column with a ritual vase on the abacus. At its base is a female deity on a throne possibly Cybele. Two women and a child proceed towards the sanctuary bearing boughs or torches while a shepherd watches. Behind them is an ithyphallic Priapus. Italy. Roman. Period/Date : 1 25 AD. Boscotrecase, Pompeii.
