Bentwood box, As such boxes were intended as trade items they were frequently painted with designs which could be identified with several different crest animals. This example is unusual in that the tertiary colour (blue) is present and the salmon trout head designs (lower corners) are asymetrical. Northwest Coast of America. probably Haida.
