Carved house post which relates to the mythological tale of Bear mother,A young woman was taken to the home of the bears as a punishment for insulting them. She married the Bear chiefs son and gave birth to two semi human cubs. The two human faces of the children are seen on the hands of this carving. Northwest Coast of America. Kwakiutl Indian. Used to support the roof beam of a house in Kitimat village.
