This large mask on a stick frame was worn strapped to the back of the incumbent of the family name Torch lights, Torchlights owned the privilege of lighting the ceremonial fire in the feast house, and from this would light long, dry cedar splint torches which were to be carried back to the other houses in the village. Northwest Coast of America. Tsimshian. carved in 1885. Kispiox village, Skeena River.
