Rattle, Ceremonial songs were accompanied with rattles and/or drums which were often used to represent the characteristic sounds of the animal intermediaries with which the ritual brought the participants into contact. This rattle is in the form of a buffalo head and is a rare example of a design in rawhide. USA. Plains Indian, possibly Cheyenne.
