Nigeria, Marking on reverse: 'A young Yoruba girl wife with her two 'pickins''. Previously to the picture she was carrying one basket inside the other on her head besides what she has on her head here. They are baskets for chickens and are very heavy although they do not look it. Note the native mat hanging at the window used in that home as a curtain', [c.1920s]. 2000/098/2/82.
