Noted aviation record holder and aviatrix Elinor Smith reels in her parachute after landing on her first jump. Her parachute is constructed of American made parachute silk which has been developed by several American silk manufacturers in conjunction with the United States Bureau of Standards, the Department of Commerce, the Navy Department, and the Silk Association of America. This parachute fabric has now been adopted by the Navy Department for official use.
