San Jose, California: November 27, 1933
The body of John Holmes, alleged kidnaper and slayer of Brooke Hart, shown after a mob which dragged him from the county jail, completed its work. He was beaten and hanged from a tree in St. James city park, 100 yards from the jail. Thomas Thurmond, his alleged accomplice, was strung up a few minutes earlier.
