The "Wawona" giant Sequoia tree in Yosemite National Park. The tunnel was cut through an existing fire scar in 1875. The tree was 28 feet in diameter. It fell in 1969 under an estimated two ton snow load on its crown. It was thought to have been 2,300 years old.
