Frozen Lakes with Frozen Cakes 1912
Légende
Before compressors that gave us Refrigerators, frozen lakes offered a resource of frozen ice cakes that were transported to folks who had ice-boxes. Prior to the ice box, people used close-to-stream houses to keep things cool or they used salt to preserve. Using ice was a new industry and ice trucks trundled the streets of cities delivering ice to homes for food preservation. Saws pulled by horses cut rectangular blockls of ice which were loaded on horses and wagons for distribution making a lake a natural resource.
