Historical Geography. 1900. India. Followers of the prophet of Allah worshipping in the great Mosque at Delhi
Légende
Historical Geography. 1900. India. Five times a day the Mussulman make his prayers and centre his mind on Allah, and the sight of a Mahomedan praying alone is impressive in its matchless reverence and simplicity. Genuine devoutness and true worship likewise mark the public prayers in the mosques. The chief prayers of the service are composed of verses from the Koran, and during their recital the members of the congregation, with measured uniformity, rise, bow, kneel, and prostrate themselves as one man, presenting a spectacle of religious absorpion which it would never occur to them could thus have been preserved by the camera of a daring infidel.
