Légende
Historical Geography. 1900. Iraq. Tension on the rope around the trunk enables the climber to mantain himself, and he is further aided in this by the deep leaf-scars which afford a foothold. The date palm, a native of North Africa, is also cultivated in Levant and India, but there is a world of difference in the quality of the fresh-plucked article and the dried remnant of export.
