World War I 1914 1918 - Western Front. France 1918. The victorious advance French and English on the front of Amiens. Cavalry and light tanks sweep the ground in front of the infantry. The Battle of Amiens or Third Battle of Picardy , began on 8 August 1918, was the opening phase of the Allied offensive later known as the Hundred Days Offensive that ultimately led to the end of the First World War.
