Sidonians landing at the site of Carthage. Long before the founding of Carthage the Sidonians had established a trading station which they called Cambe or Caccabe on that part of the African coast, it was founded to compete with the Tyrians who had a similar station at Utica. From Hutchinson's History of the Nations, published 1915.
