The Floralia, a festival in ancient Roman religious practice in honor of the goddess Flora, a symbol of the renewal of the cycle of life, drinking, and flowers. Lasting for six days, 27 April - 6th May, it included nude dancing, gladiator contests, theatrical performances and circus events. From Hutchinson's History of the Nations, published 1915.
