The founding in 122 BC by Gaius Gracchus of the short-lived colony in Carthage called Colonia Iunonia. The purpose was to obtain arable lands for impoverished farmers. The colony was abolished by the senate some time later to undermine Gracchus' power. From Hutchinson's History of the Nations, published 1915.
