Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 25. Caernarfon Castle Carnarvon Castle—Interior.—Here we have a view of the interior, which is in a good state of preservation. The walls are nearly eight feet in thick¬ness, and contain within them a gallery for fire-arms. In the lower part of the Eagle Tower it is said that Edward II., the first Saxon Prince of Wales, was born, and a little dark room is shewn as the birth-place. But this is known to be only tradition, as the same tower was not erected until after the Prince was born, he himself superintending the building of it. Before we leave Carnarvon we must not forget that it is entitled to much attention, on account of its antiquarian and historical associations. It is also a convenient spot for making a stay.
