Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 26 Llanberis Waterfall seems to be the chief object of interest here, if we are to judge by the offers of small boys to “ shew you the way to the Falls for a penny, sir.” And some, indeed, desire to do this service “for nothing, sir!” The Fall of Ceunant Mawr (i.e the great chasm) as it is called, is really a beautiful sight, after the rain has swollen it a little, as in the view before us. It falls sixty feet over a rocky shelf into a dark pool. The tourist hears the rush of its waters sometime before seeing it : suddenly he turns the corner, and there it is in all its brilliancy, sparkling in the sun¬light, and delighting the eye with its roar and wildness. “Mark, how its foamy spray, Tinged by the sunbeams with reflected dyes, Mimics the bow of day Arching in majesty the vaulted skies ;— Thence, in a summer shower, Steeping the rocks around :—Oh ! tell me where Could majesty and power Be clothed in forms more beautifully fair?”
