Magic Lantern slide circa 1900 hand coloured. created in 1887. A tour of North Wales. 40 Barmouth.—This is one of the most popular of Welsh watering places—a quiet, clean place, and possessing great attraction on account of its beautiful sands and healthful breezes. The old town, which we see from the beach, is remarkably situated on terraces cut out in the rock. One can walk up steps to these terraces, which rise one above another like seats in an orchestra, and at every step not only does one get a better glimpse of the sea and inhale the brimy breezes, but one has the opportunity and satisfaction of looking down one's neigh¬bour's chimney, and sniffing the smoke that arises there¬from ! A grand view is presented, from the rocks above, of the Cardigan bay and distant mountains on the other side.
