"Conquest of Tunis". Emperor Charles V expedition in June 1535 to recover Tunisia from the Ottoman admiral Barbarossa. Engraving after a fragment of a tapestry from the series entitled "History of the Conquest of Tunisia" (Flemish school), located in the Royal Palace of Madrid, Spain. Charles V arrived in Barcelona on April 3, 1535. Depiction of the review of troops in Barcelona on May 14, formed by gentle knights. Emperor Charles V reviewing the troops before they embark on the Portuguese caravels, the Genoese galleys and the Castilian ships. Actually this event took place in La Laguna, just outside the port of Perpignan. La Ilustracion Española y Americana, 1876.
