Isabella II (1830-1904). Queen of Spain (1833-1868). She was the elder daughter of Ferdinand VII by his fourth wife, Maria Cristina. Proclaimed queen on her father's death in 1833. During her minority (1833-1843), her mother and General Espartero acted as regents. Isabella settled in Paris, where in 1870 she abdicated in favour of her elder surviving son, the future king Alfonso XII (1874-1885), after the Revolution of 1868.
