Joe Rosenthal's iconic photograph of U.S. soldiers raising the second American flag on Iwo Jima served as the basis for this patriotic poster. Concerned that bond sales might begin to dwindle after the defeat of Germany, officials commissioned illustrator C.C. Beall (known for comics and book covers) to create a poster for a 7th War Loan subscription that would boost bond sales by appealing to the patriotism of citizens.
