Spain, Galicia, La Coruña province, Mugardos (Ferrol region). Castle of La Palma. Military fortress whose origin dates back to 1597 located in an inlet at the entrance of the estuary of Ferrol, opposite the castle of San Felipe. It lacked armament and its function was limited to the surveillance of the marine passage. The current building was erected at the end of the 19th century. Engraving by Bernardo Rico (1825-1894).
