Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861). Ukrainian poet, writer, artist and political figure. His literary heritage is regarded to be the foundation of modern Ukrainian literature. Shevchenko was politically convicted for writing in the Ukrainian language, promoting the independence of Ukraine. Sculptors: A. Bilostotsky, O. Suprun. Architect: G. Topuz. The monument was built in 1966. Memorial. Odessa. Ukraine.
