Rama and Sita’s wedding
Légende
Rama and Sita’s wedding. The divine couple join hands beneath a sacred tree, while King Janaka stands behind Sita and solemnizes the act of giving his daughter away in marriage by pouring water over the joined hands of the couple. King Dasharatha and the rishi Vasishtha are behind the bridegroom, while a female attendant following King Janaka carries a large basket of leaves (?). All the male figures are dressed in dhotis and wear jewelry, except Vasishtha, who is bare-chested and wears his hair tied in a jata makuta.
