Varadaraja enshrined in the Varadarajasvami temple
Légende
Varadaraja, a form of Vishnu, enshrined in the Varadarajasvami temple in Kanchipuram, one of the three main Vaishnava temples in South India. The god stands in samabhanga, with a bolster behind his calves. He carries in his upper right hand the chakra (discus) and in his upper left the shankha (conch), while his lower right hand is in abhaya mudra and the lower left rests on the gada (mace). Varadaraja is flanked by his consorts, each holding a lotus flower: on his right Sri Devi with a pink lotus and on his left Bhu Devi with a white one.
