Garuda, Vishnu’s eagle (or kite) vahana (vehicle). He is shown returning from his expedition to the world of the gods with the stolen vessel containing the amrita in his right hand. Garuda is depicted as an imposing male figure with a golden complexion, multicolored wings, a fashionable moustache and a beak-like nose. He wears a snake as a garland, and snakes are tied around his calves.
